Sauna
Cork Sauna 36
Lower John St
Hard to find (you have to go through a hatch in a door halfway down
a back alley), and seriously in need of a facelift, it still attracts
a sizeable clientele (mostly 25+). In one word—grotty.
Cruising
Sesame St Lapp’s
Quay/ Anderson’s Quay
Cork’s most popular cruising area is located at the extreme
eastern end of the city centre. Bounded roughly by Parnell Place
and the north and south channels of the Lee, the area sees some
action in the evening, but doesn’t really get going until the
early hours of the morning, after the clubs close. Some walk round
the blocks, others drive by to see what’s on offer. Rough trade
(NOTE: This area may not be a popular due to the new
developments on the quays)
Bus Station Toilets Parnell
Place
Situated in what is possibly the ugliest building in Western Europe,
the toilets at the Bus Station get busy from late morning onwards.
Lovers’ Lane/Atlantic Pond
The Marina
Turning left at the end of Centre Park Road brings you onto a stretch
of the Marina known as ‘Lovers’ Lane’. Many straight
and gay couples come here at night to have sex in cars; from the
afternoon on, many men also come here to cruise. Some sit in cars
facing the river, watching out for passing talent, others simply
stroll down the length of the lane. Atlantic Pond, just beside Páirc
Uí Chaoimh, also gets ‘busy’ from the early evening
onwards. The pond is surrounded by a bench-lined path, which guys
circulate in search of flesh.
Merchant’s Quay Public Toilets
Merchant's Quay
The last of the old-style cottages in use, located just by the river
(NOT situated in Merchant’s Quay Shopping Centre). Popular
with older gentlemen. |
