Bloody hell - no place is safe nowadays! It's always weird and scary finding out about somewhere you used to go to a lot on the news as a crime scene.
My friend was in the Plough in dublin when a barman was murdered there. She didn't find out till the next day and she was wondering why the place was so crowded when she left.

Very sad.

It would be fairly scary alright Mary but you can't just jump to the conclusion it was a homophobic attack tho - it could just as easily been a crime of passion with the killer a homosexual himself - just cause we're a minority doesn't mean we're exempt from having murderers in our ranks.

yes, i heard it from someone today, very sad, its also very rare for this to happen, especially in a busy bar, there must have been some
previous communication between these two people. The man was singled
out and stabbed. Maybe they shared a flat together cos mr mccanns address was not given on the news?

Nothing in the news about it RBJ, but the consensus seems to be that both men knew each other and that it was not a random attack.

Murder accused 'killed man because he raped me'
A MAN charged with murdering another man in a Dublin bar allegedly told a garda at the scene of the incident "I did it because he raped me".
Aidan Heneghan (34), formally of Brunswick Street, Dublin - who was released on High Court bail yesterday - is charged with murdering 43-year-old Frank McCann on the night of March 2.
Mr McCann was listening to a karaoke session in the Front Lounge pub in Temple Bar when he was murdered.
Garda Mark Looby said he was opposed to Heneghan being granted bail due to the serious nature of the offence and the "overwhelming evidence" against him. Over 60 witness statements were taken on the night of the incident.
The court heard that Heneghan had "made no attempt to mask his appearance" and in addition, when Garda Looby entered the bar he was shown "an extremely large knife" which he allegedly had possession of.
Counsel for Heneghan, Shane Costello, told the court that his client enjoyed the presumption of innocence and it would be up to two years before Heneghan would face his trial.
Since he had never broken a bail condition nor come to the attention of the gardai Mr Costello asked the court to release him on bail under strict bail conditions.
"I've broken my parents' hearts and put them under financial pressure. I have no intention of going anywhere," Mr Heneghan told the court while giving evidence.
Aidan Heneghan was granted bail on his own bond of €3,500 and an independent surety of €6,000, all of which must be lodged.
In addition he must make no attempt to contact the family of the dead man, stay away from the Dublin area; sign on daily at his local garda station and surrender his passport.
