It ain't what it used to be. I really don't like the vibes at Danascene since it moved to CLUB ONE. It's hard to put my finger on it, but it isn't fun anymore. Anybody agree/disagree?

I find it has an atmosphere but one which is very unfriendly and threatening. I think the scurity staff there are awful and the bar and cloakroom staff are very rude. Then again, I laughed last night when I handed in my concession w/o any cash and the girl at the door gave me change! So I'm €5 richer thanks to their ineptitude.

I think danascene gets way too crowded! It'd be nice if the night was somewhere with more space - having never been to the savoy or henry's I can't compare it but I find it quite crowded and hassled in Club one

Well the crowd seems to have dropped off A LOT since the move so doesn't feel as claustrophbic as it did in first. But I think the drop off reflects a lot of people's greivances with the new venue.

Cork just isn't a great clubbing city any more is it?

Have you seen the crowds that pour down oliver plunkett street at the small hours on thur/fri/sat night???

I think clubbing and drinking culture are very much alive in cork!

But our great clubs are dead and gone. Henry's. The Savoy. The lovable car-crash that was Gorby's.

Oliver Plunkett Street is home to two of Cork's largest and best known "late-bars" which have moved in and captured some of the market I think.

O Savoy, we forgive you! PLEASE COME BACK !!!

Such happy memories! club ONE just doesn’t hit the spot for me, its just cold or something! (not saying they need to turn on the heating or anything) Maybe the whole thing has just dated and corks gay youth are now yearning for something new and exciting!!!

God we'd try anything at this stage! Might try and get a group of us together and take over FX, o i mean the Gasworks next Wednesday night! O the thought of it! I have this strange inkling that Instinct! won’t have a problem regarding customers if it ever gets off the ground!!! Please jebus!

LOL

The problem with the nightclub scene in Cork, as I have experienced it, is that there are too many bars and clubs competing with each other for the same crowd of people, and nobody makes enough money to be really, truly good at what they do. That, and a (by and large) very undemanding, undiscerning audience. I mean, why should a club spend cash on doing interesting things for punters if they don't need to?

I think that loafers, Instinct and Taboo2 will all compete together very nicely. If only the hetero market would compete in the same way. Small selection, good venues is far better than world of choice, no buzz. Sigh.

When I used to work in One, the staff were lovely to me (only homo in the building) but these days their security is ridiculous. Mind you, when you're running 7 nights a week any old convict in a members-only jacket will do.

i think freakscene/danascene hit its pinacle in savoy and has went rapidly down-hill since - i still like dana =scene in one but it is too small and far too crowded plus the fact that the bar in danascene is the only one in the club that serves beer makes it even more crowded etc - i think that danascene is popular enough now to warrant seperate nights?

I think the music in Danascene isn't too great!
I mean last night, no DIRRTY!
What's the world coming to?

Freakscene in Sir. Henry's was the business. The music went way downhill when it moved to the Savoy.

I only ever went to Freakscene in the Savoy once.
Remember last August and you didn't have to pay?
I'm sure it was the last one there!
Anyway it was shit! [D]
