Hi!

I write songs in a band called Lamph.
We tried to enter Eurosong a few times but have never gotten in.
We're gonna try again this year, but I'm not sure exactly which song would be the best to send...

I made a short video comparing a few songs, and it would be great to get some feedback from proper ESC fans about which one to send to RTE...

I just can't decide fully on these 3 questions...

1. Which one of these (if any) is most likely to get selected by Linda & her etc's.
2. Which one would have the best chance with the Irish public
3. Which one would have the best chance in Europe.

Any opinions appreciated! [:-D]

song 4 -'meant to be' for me was the best, it has an etheral feel that reminds me of emer quinns 'the voice'.
If i was to choose another possible one then song 6, 'follow you'.
Dance numbers always go down well although very rarely win.

You could really dress song 4 up as an otherworld fey type experience cause gimmicks work specially if there is a good song to back it up.

You should post both songs in their entirety. [:-D]

I presume you're taking the piss? Sorry but none of them didn't make my ears bleed. I don't mean to be offensive... but seriously...

Hmmm....song 4 is the best of a bad bunch. Sorry, but i didn't like them much. The last song (Cool Exciting Rock) was horrendous!

But on a bright note! If song 4 is rejigged a bit and polished it could work.

Wake Up Call sounds like that 'Terminal ??' song Joanna Ryde is so in love with. It's actually not bad, just a bit outdated.

Conscious Dreaming...erm...sounds like SMH's Wuthering Heights.

Against Most Odds, actually, if it was made a bit more 'poppy' could do quite well. Ye just have to capitalise on the Glee/High School Musical craze...which isn't a bad strategy (if a little desperate!)

I kinda thought Song 4 and Song 5 were the same at first...

To be honest, Songs 4, 5 and 6 could all be real contenders. Song 4 doesn't need as much work. Song 5...that melody she was singing could be a part of the song, but you'd need to work in a catchy/dancey verses. Song 6...does she have some kind of problem where all she can do is whisper talk? To make that Eurovision, she'd need to belt it out. I believe it was Sweden last year who had an operatic part similiar to Song 5, and spoken lyrics like Song 6.

Song 7 makes me want to punch you in the face. Hard.

Your best opportunity to actually get somewhere and not get laughed off the stage (although I'll make no promises) is to retool 4, 5, and 6, into one song. The verses would sound similiar to Song 6, except SING IT, don't whisper it. Song 5 could perhaps inspire the chorus? And Song 4 I think would make an excellent intro and bridge!

Good luck x

4 and 6 are the best of the bunch, definitely 4 though.

Lamph tried to enter last year with this song i believe? I actually really like this song. It takes a while to get going but it has a nice feel to it. Pity it didn't succeed!

hey, thanks for the replies... (especially the full analysis from Cinaed!!![:-O ] It was quite comprehensive!!! We didn't have time to make the mash-up u suggested tho...)

We made the decision now, and have a clip of the song put up here:-
