Well after 2 years I'm getting a bit tired of snitz forums software.
It was great fun setting up and so on, adding patches, mods etc...
Other Irish queer sites then used the same forum software as us, gcn.ie, queerid.com and now queer.ie
So why change-
Snitz is a pain to maintain, and has well-known security holes.
I also feel its important to give you all better forum software and with much more features..
At the moment I'm looking at 3 types of php forum software-
(There are no decent asp.net ones, and asp ones are too slow!)
So its either going to be PHPBB, Invasion board or vbulletin (ver 3 looks fab!)
So stay tuned and your forum experience will change in due course!

vBulletin are really good. we have them set up but not on our own site as at the moment our site doesnt support php...
Having only had snitz running for a few weeks it was good at the beginning customising etc
but there is little functionality and userfriendliness.
Good luck with the change of forums...should be good.
P.s vBulletin can also be incorporated with a chat and therefore usernames and passwords dont need to be entered when already logged into one of them and going to the other. e.g when logged into forums and clicking on chat link it takes ur username with u as it is on the forum.
They're really good!

vBulletin is quite powerful indeed, I've installed quite a lot for work here and there, never did V3 before, but it looks dead kewl.
Next problem is importing snitz into vbulletin, but should be able to get around that.

Son, we're moving to a bigger home. In the country. All your friends will still be able to come play. (Assuming the conversion process doesn't fuck up all the user accounts [p]).

But I like my home the way it is! Although I'm very fond of the latest version of vBulletin. Works a treat on www.esctoday.com

Well I just bought vbulletin ver 3, so will get started on it asap.
The way things are at moment, I will have to do this import path-
snitz -> phpbb -> vbulletin 2.3 -> vbulletin 3!!

eek. will stuff get lost that way? When do you start doing it? Might take a quick look at the database tables, you never know scripts might be easily adaptable so you can go directly.

I'll do a test and see over weekend, I know I won't be able to import passwords as differetn encryption is used, but that is easily solved with a password reminder

So does that mean we'll all need new passwords or what?

Yes, but don't worry about it for now.
When the new one is live, you can ask it to send you a link to create a new password.
I will message all members with full info when the time comes...
