Whoa..... That's a bit freaky - in the 'view results' section the names of the voters appear next to their choices. Obviously ok in the, now weekly, polls on loafers V Instinct V the Club but would dramatically decrease the number of takers for some of Amnesiac's juicier polls.

Mods - if the thought of Amnesiac's juicy poll is too much you might throw an 'Explicit content' tag on the title.

That's because this is a public poll. It is the poll starter who decides whether a poll is "public" or "private."

Ah...ok, a simple answer.

I wonder would the results to a poll on rimming or cheating be different if it WERE public?

*grins*

Don't worry... I can't turn "private" polls into "public" ones... but always remember EVERYTHING you do online can be monitored!

Yeah - I know. Someone mentioned in another post about being able to compare IS numbers to see people with multiple personas. How is this done ?

You mean IP number.

An IP number is a number consisting of 4 parts separated by dots, e.g. 165.113.245.2. This can either be a predetermined number (static) or a different one can be assigned each time you login (dynamic). Every machine that is on the Internet has a unique IP number. Most machines also have one or more domain names that are easier for people to remember.

It's not always accurate though. For example all the machines in the UCC open access labs go through another machine for filtering purposes and it's this machine's IP that you see. Therefore you can tell if someone posted from the labs, but can't tell which machine they posted from.

Can be the same with other pcs that go through a proxy server. For example if you looked at my IP you would see the IP of my poxy server in work, but not the IP of my particular computer.

Sorry - mixing up isp and ip numbers. I understand the concept but just can't see other people IP numbers.

Moderators and Administrators could view the IP number of any message posted on Snitz forums. I don't know what the current arrangements are.

OK - I can see them on my emails of course - just thought that you could see them here too.
