Maybe im alone in this or ppl will think me strange but … is the cork scene basically just made up of a bunch of effeminate queens ? That’s not intended to insult anyone but i just find it hard to be attracted to a man who, in the wrong lighting, could be mistaken for a woman. I’m not sayin that i myself am the butchest thing around but i do like there to be a mystery of "is he even possibly straight" about a guy and not "Jesus would he not just put on a dress". I’m just not attracted to man who are effeminate and that seems to be all there is on the scene.

Opinions ?

PS - I dont have a problem with effeminate men just incase ppl mis-read me :)

I think some people on the scene are very effeminate!
I can't be attracted to that either.
I am also not the most masculine out there...but there are far worse!

This might sound strange but I can't be attracted to men who drink Wicked!
That might sound really funny and I'm sure if Jonny Lee Miller wanted to drink Wicked I would have no problem...but you know what I mean!

Sorry but that wicked thing is the funniest thing i've every heard - and not in a bad way ! :)

Well I was put here to entertain...or so I keep telling myself!
But it's not just WICKED...
Smirnoff Ice, Breezers...

And I know I was drinkin' it the other night but a friend was leaving and that's just a waste of drink! :D

I'm not too fond of beer...but if it's all that's there!
The other night I had to force myself to drink FOSTERS before it went out!
But it worked...
I'm still remembering songs they played!
Like only about 2 hours ago I had a flashback of dancing to Steps!
LoL!

Oh it's ok cause we changed the words!
Actually we changed the words about 6 years ago but we remembered some of them!
Were you in the club Saturday night?
It was a good night!
In fact I've been having such good times in there lately?

Being honest i haven’t been in the club since instinct opened - don’t see the point when u can stay for free there - not a cheap skate - just a poor student !

I definately agree with you Kyle on the 'who wants to be with a queenie' score. This issue gets raised time and time again. Why do we always have to refer back to the 'there's a reason Im gay... I like men' quote. Its true though. There are guys out there on the scene and you'd feel like saying 'just go get it cut off will ya'.

Ill be the first to state that Im no butch guy, but I know what I am if you know what I mean. Theres nothing wrong with being feminine, but in my eyes... I wanna be with a man. Different strokes for different folks.

You just made my point for me there jc - i have nothing against men who are feminine (as i said twice in my post) I just cant find them attractive - its a bit like the fact that i cant find women attractive - just not my thing!

I feel exaclty the same way Kyle, have no attraction to campness, but on the same hand have no problem with it either.

After a few pints I can tend to get a wee bit camp though, so in a sense I'm a 4-beer camp queen!

One thing about Instinct though, its brought out a lot more butcher guys, ones who you would never have seen in taboo!

True! But I always go to the club before 11! It used to drive me off my game having to sit at the bar for nearly 2 hours before going downstairs but I don't mind it so much anymore!

So what night exactly do people think is the best for Instinct?

I can only presume it would be a Saturday night. Ive been mostly going there on a Friday of late and it doesnt seem to really get going till late (or else its the alcohol kiks in).

by despising their existence does that mean there is an element of insecurity about my own sexuality?

Yes, of course... but this thread is older than Joan Collins' tuesday panties. Why resurrect it??

Is the fact that I strongly dislike camp guys a sign of internalized homophobia because they are a part of gay culture and life and essentially who I am??

Magenta would imagine internalised homophobia is not unlike a Christian/Catholic overactive guilt conscience issue, loathing the homosexuality in yourself & in others of the same disposition.

Not liking someone because of the way they dress/act is a universal vice, drag queens are just one of the bohemian elements of a diverse gay culture, that doesn't mean you have to empathise or like it!!

If you were straight would you like the hoodies & tracksuits of the community?!? The same rings true.

and by despising their existence does that mean there is an element of insecurity about my own sexuality?

Well are you insecure?!?! The posters can't answer a question only you have the answer for!!

hmmm... I'm not sure. I think I could be described as being towards the "butch-er" end of things myself, but I find effeminate boys quite attractive. I wouldn't really go for butch guys at all. As long as they aren't nasty bitchy going along with it though, that just irritates me. Different strokes as someone said.

i just think painting people with the same brush and just making a sweeping generalisation like a "queen" is stupid. the diversity of the homosexual community is like the diversity of the heterosexual community on a much more compressed scale. think about it, 1 in 10 people are gay. that means that in a community of 100 people, ten of em are gay. of those 10, we'll say 4 of em are out. of those 4, 2 of em are scene. instinct has a couple hundred people in on a saturday night. lets say 250ish.
that means your taking elements of 2 people from each of 125 different 100 bodied communities. there is no WAY you can paint a quarter of a million people with one single brush!!!

i like maths [:-X]

whoa my head hurts after +saidin+'s post but hes got a point every one is different and i think there are many guys out there who are extremely effeminate and others who are slightly effeminate etc, u get the idea. everyone is different i woul be very slow to class someone as a queen as im very slowto label people.
