Where did I say he was not entitled to his opinion. Please QUOTE ME where I said that ? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and everyone is entitled to a reply to what someone posts to a public discussion forum.

What I'm saying is that if you express your opinion publically you are not entitled to privacy. Same way that if I wrote into a paper I'm not entitled to have them hide my name and email address unless I specifically said so.

This is the beauty of this website and online discussion websites. We can debate and argue and fight about particular subjects. If we are to agree in unison and support what everyone else here says we would not be a very exciting and interesting bunch of people.

Whats the use of the reply button on this site if we can't use it ?

Arguing amongst ourselves is healthy and allows us to share our differing opinions and put across why we agree or disagree with certain things. It allows us to strenghten our arguments so that when we battle these "outside forces" our armour is toughened enough to take on any foe. Once the arguing is constructive and people take in peoples viewpoints.

but in getting back to it, he exprssed an opinion, but he did not do it publicaly. the e-mail was sent to admin. it was not posted on the board by him, it was posted by admin. if ye want to send anyone porn, send it to admin (although it might not have the same desired effect).

we cant all react, it would not be just or fair. one response from the website as a whole would do in this case. but in saying that, if anyone like him actually posted something along the same lines as this letter then by all means respond in person, but be tactfull about it.

Actually, i don't think that everyone is entitled to an opinion, particularly not when those opinions ostracise and hurt anybody. Understanding and education are the keys to successful living and I, for one, don't believe that people are entitled to express an opinion that imposes any sociological restrictions on how we live our lives. That's why we have laws, and laws are constantly being ammended and changed, albeit slowly.

Opinions like that e-mail are how apartheid and the Holocaust got started, and just look at how well they turned out.

The whole idea is he emailed the admin. I look to the admin as someone akin to a newspaper editor. When someone writes to the editor of a newspaper they know what they write has the potential to be fully published.

This website to be is an online publication. Someone who emails the admin with a rant addressed to the whole of queertopia should expect and probably does expect the email to be published. I too believe in FULL publication not partial publication.

when someone writes to the editior of a newspaper they are fully aware of that their letter may possibly get published along with their name and address. but lets be serious about this, this is a website, a public forum. he is fully entitled to come online and register and write what he wants, but he chose to do the cowardly act and instead e-mailed admin, i would see admin as a member of the online gay community in cork with supernatural powers that commands our respect, i wouldnt see him as an editor (but he is a lovely man[p])
