damien - my cousin went to iceland on the oct bank holdiay last year and he said it was terrible....the country itself was grand but everything was closed. Was thinking of going there myself...there are only flights out of ireland on the oct bank holiday weekend and around easter. From what he told me, hold off till Easter! Plus it wont be dark for 21 hours of the day either!
Seeing as how a well traveled bunch you guys are...am headin to New York in Sept but wanna get to DC for a few days - anyone know what the ryanair style airlines are in the states....tried all the usual ones (delta, us airways, continental, AA) and the prices on those are almost as much as the flight from Shannon over! Have found a few no-frills airlines on the web but they don't service that route. The amtrack train is pretty $$$ too! Cheers.

Iceland was voted Favourite Destination by the readers of The Observer's Travel magazine this year. it's an amazing country, once you're willing to explore beyond the relative dulnnes of Rekyjavik and the surrounding hinterland. The Snaefellsnes peninsula is highly reccomended.
I would love to spend six months travelling through China(r).

Cork - Cork's my dream destination. I'd love to have the time to have a break back there and visit all these bars and places I keep hearing about and spend a bit of time down in Kinsale and Skull where I used to holiday as a teenager...

Was in lake titicaca last year Solice. Hmmm. No, didn't do it for me. Fine, but bored the tits off me.
Give me Siena or southern Tuscany anytime. Beautiful, people, architecture, art, cars, food, wine, scenery, guys, clothes, wine, music.......y'know, the more I think about it the Italians accept second best in very few important areas of life.
AND, Dr O'Leary flies cheaply to Pisa. Jeez, I can taste the Osso Buca in mama Forcillos in sinalunga. Iceland me arse.

I actually met Theresa Lowe. When I was a kid and lived in Meath, I had a huge crush on her. She lived near us, so I got to meet her, in fact she brought me to RTE for the day and I got to meet Zig and Zag too. The highlight of my youth. [)]
I'd love to go to Maine in the States ... and well, anywhere, really.

In Ireland one of my favourite spots is the cliff walk from ballyandreen to bally cotton. theres a lovely beach about half way along, great for relaxing or whatever.
I've always wanted to go walking in Peruvian mountains, or explore the scandinavian countries. But as I haven't been I can't comment.
Out of the places Ive been, the nicest was an island off Crete called Santorini. Its breathtaking.

the most amazing cliff walk i have been on was from bondi to cogee, it was spectacular. about half way in to the walk we came to a head land type thing. and out in the sea below us about 500m away was a whale. it surfaced, blew some water in the air, and went back under, smashing its tail off the surface. we didnt see it again, just one glimpse but it was the most amazing sight i have seen in along time
