PRESS RELEASE

'Go back to those goldsoundz' is the opening line of the Pavement song 'Goldsoundz' which is the inspiration behind Cork's latest club night in The White Rooms (next to the Bodega). The organisers (the freakscene crew) plan to do exactly what it says on the tin with regard to the music policy and intend to play a mixture of classics from the past along with what the DJs predict maybe the classics of the future.

The Bodega's restaurant will be converted into a laid back Indie haven with DJ Alan Fadd presiding over all thngs alternative. The White Room at the back of the Bodega (upstairs) will play host to some Funk, Soul, Motown & Disco Goldsoundz with DJ Jenny Glitt (of Danascene @ Freakscene) on the decks. There will be free access between both rooms, although the Bodega itself will be run seperately as per normal. Entry to Goldsoundz is via the restaurant entrance.

I used to love Danascene when Freakscene was in Henrys but it lost something when it moved to the foyer in the Savoy. This sounds brilliant.

get there early as capacity is only 250 and judging by the feedback i'm getting there's going to be people turned away who arrive late.

Is Freakscene gone for good? Will Goldsoundz be a permanent fixture?

Goldsoundz will be permanent and NO, freakscene most definitely is not gone for good. Even if the Savoy doesn't re-open (which is unlikely) they'll find a home somewhere else. Every club in cork would love to have Freakscene on its premises!!!! The Promoter has had approaches from at least 5 clubs since the savoy problem erupted a few weeks ago.

Is it confirmed Goldsoundz starts tonight? I haven't seen any promotion. Freakscene website just says it's coming soon.

few teething problems as is the norm with any new night but other than that a very successful launch, should be even better this week.

Was there last Friday. I loved the venue it is very unique, it's small but stylishly compact, and has a very relaxed feel with the couches.

The music was good, upstairs had disco and downstairs was indie. The DJ even played Suede which I haven't heard played in a pub or club in Cork for yonks. the bouncers event said thanks and see you again when leaving.

The only problem was that downstairs smelled of the toilets. Maybe bad ventilation.

Freakscene & Danascene on Wednesdays are moving to Club One very soon. As soon as I get the exact date I'll post it here.

Just checked the freakscene website and Freakscene started in Club One last wednesday night. Have no idea what it was like. Did anyone go? Any good?

Hope Danascene is there as well. It's an integral part of the whole night! On reflection though, where would it fit in Club One? Front bar is a bit small ain't it?

yes, Danascene IS at Club one, in the front bar, every wednesday.

I thought Goldsoundz was like a replacement Danascene, seeing as they're under the same management. It's great to hear that Danascene is still going to continue @ Freakscene.

Has anybody been since it moved to ONE? Improvement or not?

Goldsoundz is a seperate night which is run by the same people, it happens at the Bodega White Rooms every friday.

Freakscene & danascene has now moved lock, stock and barrel to Club One every wedneday. Last wednesday was the very first one at club one.
