firstly can i say that limerick, as a city is lovely, a little missunderstood in the rest of the country. its not all stabbings and drugs. i came out of the place alive, barely, the citizens of limerick do not believe in traffic lights or pedestrian crossings. omg. and nobody wears seatbelts up there.

but the scene in limerick is actually quite good, if not a little bit unstable.

there are (as far as i know) 2 bars and 2 clubs.

myknos, is a small little pub, quite nice. its on a par with taboo in cork, but its larger, well furnished with couches and has a bit more standing room. alot more.
the most noticable feature in the pub would have to be the lap dancing pole. yes thats right, limericks newest gay venue is a former lap dancing bar, it was comical. but it did give the place character.
the bar staff were lovely, but the drink in the place was limited but i would assume that that was just a prob on the night.
the dj, located behind the bar, pulled pints in between the tracks, once again, it added character.
the music was not all pop, there was a little dance and a tad rock thrown in as well.

rafters this is the limerick equivalent of "the other place". now people, despite what it says over the door, it is not called, "the globe", it is called rafters.
on the second floor of the building is te pub, a nice bright open plan floor with a high ceiling and really cool lights. the chairs ar all tiger skin (its so mad). once again, its well furnished with couches and a pool table which is moved out of the way when the place fills up, and it does fill up.

on the first floor is the first of limericks 2 all gay nightclubs. its quite good, possibly a little too bright, the dance floor is quite small but the music is good and the atmosphere is good aswell. there is plenty of room to move around in the club but not that many places to sit down. if they were to make it better, they could turn off some of the lights, it would improve its club stature.
cost to enter rafters is €8 on a sat night
but not unsurprisingly, in the basement of the building was one of limericks other lap dancing bars. apparently, lap dancing and gay pubs go hand in hand in limerick

yum yums the 2nd of limericks gay night clubs was closed when i was there. doubts remain as to wether it will open again. but here is hoping that when the UL reopens its doors the gay population of limerick will explodwe and keep it in bussiness.
i was informed that it is a nice club, good lay out and good music, but i will reserve my judgment.
oddly, there are no signs around the club. its just two doors into a building that look like emergency exits.

limerick has a nice energetic scene, i was impressed.
