Goodbye Lenin!
Anyone see this German comedy about the fall of the Berlin Wall? It's fantastic. Easily the best film I have seen which deals with reunification and I've sat through one or two as a student of the german langauge!
Sharp, hilariously funny yet incredibly touching and poignant throughout. The acting is superb and the direction is quite good. And the male lead is a dead ringer for Jake Gyllenhaal... yum D
Perhaps it could be a little bit shorter and at times the plot meanders to a certain extent. But Goodbye Lenin should help dispel any myths about German Film lacking emotion and humour. And more than makes up for the abysmal Mostly Martha I fell asleep through earlier this summer.
