I LOVED sharkey and george! They were amazing! My favourite national holiday is definitely Paddys day....no presents, no (necessary)decorating, no unhealthily food of food feeling just lots of drunken fun!!
Also loved the random french bank holidays when i lived there, when they occurred on a tuesday noone opened on the monday and then they occurred on a thursday noone opened on the friday and when they occurred on a wednesday opening hours for the week were anyone's guess.
