Its about time...Corrie sure dragged their feet in comparison to the other soaps on have a gay/lesbian character!

However it will be interesting to see how the producers deal with it as the Adam Rickett character is said to be "horrified" and threatens to "spill the beans"!!!

A spokeswoman for the show said "The introduction of a gay character to Coronation Street show was always going to cause some controversy so we wanted to wait until the time was right and the storyline came naturally out of the characters.

"We hope that viewers will sympathise with the character of Todd and the turmoil he is going through. The storyline is handled in a sensitive manner and has been written and directed for 7.30pm transmission."

Not a Corrie fan at all, but considering they've never had a gay kiss in the entire history of the show (what, like 40 years or something?) it's about time ... but, big deal!
