Ok heres the story i got me dad his xmas pressie today and i bought him one of those cinema kit thingys (the model is bush)

anyways after spending hours shouting every swear word i could think of, why oh why do they insist on winding those speaker wires so tight that they get all tangled up and you spend the next hour crying trying to untangle it????

finally got it all hooked up, switched it on, tested the speakers were working and they were HOWEVER i notice a slight clicking sound from one of the speakers every few minutes this same thing happens with my other cinema kit.

so im just wondering is this normal or do i need to take it back and make the sales assistant cry???

i've checked all the connections over and over and still the same thing. its nothing major really as you dont even hear the click when a movie is playing and as i said it happens with my other kit as well.

so maybe i am just being too anal? (no sniggering at the back)

I know theres loads of tech heads on this site so any advice would be appreciated.

it is most probably being caused by electrical interference from a source somewhere else in the building. Some appliance that switches on and off, like a fridge or perhaps a boiler which is controlled by a thermostat. In fact, that it happens on another system it's almost 100% certain it is being caused by electric interference in an appliance nearby.

If you have the patience you can usually work it out. Does the fridge always start up when you hear the click? Or the boiler fire up or some other motor or light turn on?

The solution is to isolate the cause, then either replacing the control device (thermostat or whatever electromechanical switch activates it) or filtering it if it cannot be easily replaced.

Kev i am sooooooo having your children thank you so much for the advice. me dads checking most of the stuff at the moment to see what could be causing it, i have a suspicion that the subwoofer and amp are too close to the tv and dvd.

thanks again for the advice.

Hey Joe,

Are they both the same system?

If its clicking on BOTH of your systems and they are different makes and models then I would say that it would all be down the the TV/DVD/VHS output.

In other words, perhaps its not the new system causing the click, but the TV and the the System is only playing what it hears? Laymans terms coming out my arse here!!!

But do u get me??? Try the Cinema system on a differnet tv or dvd player.... see if the click is still coming thru.

If it is.. then u prob need to bring it back, even if the problem is minor..

hey harry

no they are 2 different systems. the one i got my dad yesterday was a BUSH brand its a nice system not too powerful (70watts) and the one i have is a SONY (500 watts the neighbours were not happy) and i have to say the sound on the BUSH model is so much better.

The click isnt really a problem as u cant even here it when a movie is playing and its not a constant click (im not really describing the sound very well) and it happens occasionally with my sony system as well so i think Kev is right its probably something in the house thats interfering with the speakers.

My dads like a pig in shit with his new system he actually ducked during the lobby scene in the matrix [:-))]

thanks again for the help

Just on the topic of home cinema surround sound this is very funny - my brother bought one for his & his boyf's fancy big tv before the Eurovision this year. They only had it about a week before the Eurovision but it used to switch off (or something like that) after about an hour. So when it came to Eurovision night in their gaff (they had a little party) we were all sitting around watchin Eurovision just as the Winner's entry was coming on the sound went. Well my brother's boyf nearly had a canary. He started screaming at my brother to turn up the volumn. My brother hadn't a clue how to work the thing. He was getting all flustered, his boyfriend was like a luantic ranting and raving saying that my brother had turned off on purpose and had timed it at that exact moment. We the guests were just sitting there red faced as a mini domestic had ensued. It was a hilarious.

LOL good one nula your poor brother i hope he has recovered by now?

I would recommend a home theater thingy to anybody who enjoys movies, they really make the world of difference watching films especially movies with intense sound effects. you can get really cheap systems now of course if you are a label snob then you will go for sony or panasonic.

The bush system i got me dad is fantastic, i know people think bush+cheap=crap but that is not the case i have always found bush to be very reliable.

However avoid GOODMANS like the plague they are utter utter shite.

Hi,it Has To Be Outside Clutter From Some External Source, Work A Bit With Very High Frequency Radios, Turn Off As Much Of The External Elect Equip Then Put Back On 1 At A Time Might Indicate Source Of Your Problrm, But Dont Forget To Put The Fridge N Freezer Back On Or Else You Have A Pile Of Mess To Explain To The Real Boss In The Morning, Enjoy
