Well an entertaining show, oh wait I just have something to say first

SHUT THE HELL UP YOU MORON MARTY WHELAN!!!

Ahem, well needless to say I'm disappointed that Kate Ryan didnt qualify even after they stole the Stormvind' machine and all[:-((]
But in fairness Carola did give an absolutley stunning preformance, she's my new favorite now. After they did the little video of the other finalists I don't think she'll have any problems getting the top spot.
And yes I did give a little cheer as Ireland qualified.
I hope Finland do well, very surprised they got through. I like the song but didn't think it would do well. [;-)]
Sorry that Iceland was so bad Apollo, I liked the song too but that preformance was just terrible.
The talent on Monaco wasn't bad either, not bad at all [;-)]

The opening act I liked it was pretty well done, even had the Genghis Khan song [:-))]
The presenters were worse than normal, I almost preferred to hear Marty's warbblings over them.

Roll on Saturday night

Ok when I say she was bad, it was awful. The crowd were booing her.
Never in all my Euroyears have I seen the like.

Ya the swedish song was kick ass, hope they win, Brian Kennedys song seems alittle poor in comparison but to the upbeat-ness of the other contestants but hey he might do well and we could do with winning the eurovision again just to reaffirm our position as the record holders. The icelandic entry was crazy, the costumes were great, now I know that bjork isn't the only off the wall-er in iceland, it looked fantastic. What was with the female presenter was she american? - her accent was really funny!

She is American of Greek parentage, she was the model for the Bond girl in the 007 From Russia with love PS2 game.

I though Sylvia Was amazing! I mean she was so funny! The reason she was boo-ed was because she made a joke and criticized Greek organisational skills! They boo-ed before she even began to sing!

I always though Kate Ryan would be a wash out, but after seeing her performance last night i do think she deserved to go through.

O i nearly wet myself with excitement when slovenia were on. O he is such a ride!!! I was hoping he's get through!

Anyone know why Turkey didn't sing any part of her song in English? She had been in rehearsals all week! It's actually an OK song in English but it's awful in Turkish!

I though Estonia deserved to go through too on their performance, even though her outfit was appauling!

O i'm so excited, can't wait till saturday night!
I was watching Big Brother
And Apollo you shoud be ashamed of your self, watching BB over the ESC!!! Tut Tut Tut [:-O ]

omg that was such a laff! myself and tom red were in instinct watching it and declairing how each and every woman in it used to be a man and that every man was a screaming queen [:-))]
finland got a round of aplause in the bar when they finished! it was bloody entertaining!!

FINLAND TO WIN! [:-))]
THAT BITCH CAROLA TO BURN! [:-))]

Her accent was really annoying! Jenny Kelly on the Ray Darcy show did a great imitation of it this morning. I only saw a few of the performances as was flicking between that and Big Brother and compared to them I'm surprised that Brian Kennedy got through.

I was just reading an article about the eurovsion int he guardian online and one bright chap had this comment. It made me smile

"We have to give credit to Europe: I can't imagine anyother place where such a spectacular variety of vomit-inducing music is watched annually by millions who know exactly what to expect and still persist in watching something that in some rough states is used to force confessions out of prisoners."

Gutted about Belgium and Iceland, but then again, didn't see it as I was on a plane.

Glad Armenia got through, even if they won't do too well. I like the underdogs :)

I'm liking Malta and Greece for ballads; Denmark, Ukraine and Romania for dance songs, and actually love Finland too.

Brian Kennedy should not have gone through. his song is shite. i'm sorry.

not really digging Carola, but will reserve my judgement for tonight. She and Brian and back to back!

Awww Poor Brian.I think he's so lovely. He has written so many great songs but I admit this is a bit weak. I still hope he does well, he deserves it for being so brave. There was some ammount of crap in the semi final but I think he done us proud.

On a plus at least we got through last night to next year without having to qualify. I loved the Swedish song and thought it would win. I didn't like the Finland song and was disgusted that it won. It goes against all the things I like about the Eurovision. I hope it's not a sign of what the songs will be like next year.

I thought every act put on a brilliant performance on the night including Brian, I wasn't a fan of the song but it was certainly better than that awful Lithuania song, 'We are the winners', more like pathetic LOSERS.
Was sorry Romania didn't win I thought he was by far the best singer there.

Brian Kennedy's performance was abysmal. There was no energy at all in it. I'm not a fan of Eurovision, but at least the other countries made some effort.

I thought Brian's performance was polished and professional. It was a ballad, you can't exactly jump around the stage, unlike Donna and Joes amateur, over-energetic performance last year.

I think Ireland are winners for just qualifying for the final next year.

I loved the Romanian song as well.

The eastern European countries voting for their neighbours has become so boring and predictable, it's ruining the contest. But Finland seemed to rise above it by capturing everyones imagination and doing something different.

People who complain about political voting obviously dont watch the contest. So what if Croatia give Bosnia 12 points and vice versa, its all about where their 10s, 8s and so on are going. Since televoting started, the song that was likely to win has done. Greece has 1 neighbour (Macedonia) and apart from the 12 points they always get off cyprus, they flew away with it last year.
The UK were the best by far and were my favourites last year too. Wondering are they suffering coz they're going very mainstream??? Touch My Fire and Teenage Life are both songs likely to do well in charts, maybe Eurovision doesnt work like that?

Well that was fun, just back from Dublin. We managed to get the projector working half an hour after the show started. Thehn tuned into BBC for Terrys comments, so much better than Marty.
It was fantastic. They all did their best, bless them [;-)] I love the new way they show the votes, much much better. So happy that Lordi won, still surprised though [:-D]

lordi was bloody amazing!!! whenever they came on screen, everyone in instinct cheered like crazy!

Did anyone else thinking the guy from the Netherlands not so subtly coming onto/teasing Sakis about his sexuality was a bit unusual for Eurovision. I mean he gave Sakis his number on live TV across Europe.

Also, why was the German guy giving the results of the German jury on a mock horse?

Loved the bitter Belgiums when they gave their votes, Euro-scandalous.

I couldn't agree more, she stole the show even though she didn't make it that far. My overriding memory of Eurovision this year will be Silvia Night.

Her tantrums have been amongst the highest watched clips on Youtube this week.

No, I think my attempted entrance into the room by climbing the roof topped that.

Anyway, Eurovision in Helsinki? Hopefully the fact that Lordi where not a traditional act (much like Silvia) will spur other countries to experiment with their entries.

@ Saidan - I like urban music so Britain were the only ones who tried it (for the second year in a row) and the song is very reminiscint of vitamin C's graduation song. I thought (Like Javine last year) they should have done a lot better in the voting.
Forget everyone else, Silvia Knight is gonna be fucking HUGE!!!

I just heard Silvia Night for the first time today and never realised she was taking the piss!!! Shes gonna a huge star!
