there doesnt seem to be any particular area to put a sport topic in, so I went for the most general area.

Anyone catch the hurling match yesterday? Am in glasgow, so no chance of going to the match, but saw it in an irish pub here. Even made some new friends (the joys of watching a match by yourself, one of the other irish is bound to talk to ya). Twas a waterford man that I was speaking to, but thats better than nothing
*avoids punches from waterford people*
anyways, great match, nearly had heart failure watching it.

as for formula 1! saw M. Schumacher spinoff (tho, not so much spin, as make a stupid mistake under a little pressure, and end up outta the race). Kudos to Montoya and Ralf Schumacher tho. Good performance.

what about Alonso sending DC into the gravel. The stewards deemed that no action was needed. But he did seem to break well before the corner. DC was just caught napping I think.

Schumy's spin was a bit silly. Like Montoya gave him enough room. Ferrari are naturally a bit pissed off about it but Schumy said he would have done the same thing.

yeah he totally gave schummy enuf room, as far as I could see there was up to a foot or so between their cars. schummy just judged it badly, hey even the Best make mistakes.
still he has a good lead now in the board, even after that race. C'mon Raikkonen...someone needs to give Schummy a run for his money, to make this season interesting.

as for Setanta..man, he's really something. I remember the days of old (okay about 4 years ago, lol), going up to thurles and dublin for the matches, we'd all be on the train, and Setanta would pass, all the people would go hushed and say Wow, there's one of the O hAilpins..
Twas only a matter of time before he'd be playing championship matches like his brother.
For a pretty tall and lanky fella, he really plays well. and jaysus, that goal, great stuff.

go Kimi! As much as I hate McLaren it is nice to see Schummy facing some challenge for the C'ship.
As it happens I will be in Kimi's home town (Espoo, near Helsinki) next week for a wedding.

I can't see Schumacher winniing this title if Bridgesotne don't get their act together and come up with a tire to rival Michelin. Of course the tunring point in the season is widely rumoured to be the day Michelin tipped off the FIa regarding differnet front/rear compounds being used by Bridgestone...

WE might only get to see the McLaren Mp4-18 for three races this seaon but it looks truly extraordianry... would expect McLarne to develop this amazing racer throughout 2004.

If Jordan sign up as Mercedes customers next year there's a stong possibility they will also buy the MP4-17D chassis... and run a Merc driver (Hedifeld or Wurz?)

yes, it should be good to see the new McLaren, to rival the already present Ferrari of this year.
am really looking forward to it, should add some spice to the year..

Well, well, well...
now with th MP4-18 delayed until the Italian GP at the earliest, and Ralf and Williams finding form on the superior Michelin rubber, copuld we be looking at a Brotherly Showdown for the Drivers' Title? What a prospect!

CIARRAÍ ABÚ by the way! A dull Muster final though!

The Leinster Football Final was shown in Taboo yesterday. The mind really does boggle. Sunday evenings in Faulkner's Lane might never be the same again!
Great to see a complete unknown win a tournament as prestigious as the British Open. yesterday Didn't see much of it myself though... i've completely lost interest in golf.

And the spectator who ran down the Hangar Straight in Silverstone during the British GP is an ex neighbour of mine! Absolute nutter. Delighted to see Rubens take a victory this year... he and JPM drove brilliantly... Schumi M drove cannily and adopted a "damage limitation" strategy after Fr. Horan ruined his chances of a podium. He's working the new points system he despises so much better than anyone is our Schumi...

And now we enter a testing ban of SEVEN weeks... with Bridgestone appearing to close the gap on Michelin the end of the F1 season is going to be MEGA!

Hmm, now with that fiasco of the guy running thru the track [is he a kerryman? someone said that, so does that mean you're a kerry man Amnesiac? lol....don't know if I can speak to you again ;)], it may seem that Silverstone is destined to be off the F1 world GP list...I mean its been touch and go for the British GP anyways, but this kinda security breach is another black mark for the Brits.

This season is become VERY interesting now...who knows what is gonna happen!

I think Silverstone is safe... Bernie just pushing all the buttons to force the BRDC and the British government to pay for much needed improvements... it's such a shame Brands has fallen so far behind international standards though... could have been such a fab venue...

Yeah, Fr. Horan from the sticks is a slightly deranged Catholic priest who has been ranting about the imminent demise of mankind for years now. "I know his people" as they say back home, God the embarrassemnt they suffer at his hands...

Have you heard Justin Wilson has joined Jag for the last five races of the season? It's great to see; the guy sold HIMSELF (via a novel shares deal) in order to land a drive in F1. Jag have AMAZED me with their solid progress over the last 12 months. From British Racing Joke to lean, mean, green machine. With Webber on a long term deal, maybe the "British Ferrari" idea ain't such nonsense...

What a climax to the 2003 season! With Kimi seven points behind Schumi, I think it's a two horse race for the Driver's Title. Hard-charging Juan Pablo Montoya versus a cool, calm Michael Schumacher. Whoever wins this mammoth battle will be a true Champion, but a lot will hinge on the rubber (Doesn't it always ;) ) Will Ferrari/Bridgestone be a match for the all powerful BMW/Michelin combo on the banking at Indianapolis? Will it be a Schumacher benefit shoudl it rain as is beign forecast?
