`What time is this site busy? I never see more then a handful on-line at any one time. Is there a certain time/day that load of people come on? If so... when? Would be nice to actually chat to someone in the chat room. How about we set up a day and time where a big group would come on-line, even if it was to chat through msn even. Any Response? [8D]

Cork's gay community isn't that big, and even then not everyone is webbed up. If you go on Gaydar, you rarely see more than 10 people online in Cork.
It's just the way in a small city.

A good proper chat room would be handy. I hate the chat room in Gaydar. The java applet is crap and I hate the ads.
It'd be good if we had a once a week meeting where everyone joined the chat room for an hour on a Tues night or whenever.
We could always just create a channel on Quakenet on IRC

If people have an irc client they'll get to it, if they don't a java applet will do, gain I keep plugging boards.ie, but thats what they have and it works well.

Around 5-ish (as in now) seems to be a fairly good time. As I write this, there's 5 members on-line, and about 10 guests! But it changes literally every minute, with people coming and going...

A lot of people in UCC can't get into IRC servers or use Java applets, with the way they've set up the system on campus.
any other way around it???

If you're technically minded, the proxy server you use is http//hermes2.ucc.ie, port 8080, it allows connections to most services. You can download a client like mirc (damien can probably recommend a better one).

am not in UCC anymore myself, but know that I found not being able to enable Java very annoying. Wish I'd known about that proxy to use! dammit....

Are you telling me there IS a way to access Java chatropoms in UCC rbj? (remember I'm thick when it comes to technology)

not the java ones. (although I've been told this is different in the new computers over in block a (the ones by the windows that sit on top of the desks)). You can access irc chatrooms via the proxy
