Hi there everyone.

I'm moving back to Cork after 11 years in England. Time to come back now. Well I would just like to know what the scene is like in Cork since I was there. It was pretty bad, small and very hidden and secretive. A change I can already see is this forum, which is great!! Are people any less homophobic than they were back then? I can see there are a few more places to go to. My trouble now is, that I don't know anybody else in Cork who's gay. Can anyone tell me what to expect these days?

Cheers

Hello and welcome back :)

Things are a lot better these days, just don't go grabbing peoples ass down Patrick St and you'll be fine [;-)]

When are u coming home? If you're home in time for the next meet-up then i can think of no better way of meeting other similarly-inclined-guys in a nice social setting [:-D].

Welcome by the way!

Hibernius, welcome to the forums and welcome back to Cork!

Yes Cork has changed a lot, and for gays, there is a lot more to offer, as well as social groups and support structures.

There also seems to be a lot more people coming out, and the larger visible numbers is heart warming.

We even have an annual gay pride parade through the streets of Cork, which can be very rewarding to participate in.

You also find that Ireland has changed a lot too, and will also notice that Patrick St in Cork is home to many shops that you know from the UK [;-)]
