Is anyone else fuming after the 2008 Eurovision?

I agree with Terry Wogan....we need to seriously think about entering again to quote the hero Wogan ..."this is certainly no longer a singing contest"!

What are your feelings on it?

It really has become a political voting contest, and although the Russian song wasn't bad, there were far better entries who deserved to win because of their song, and not their country... [X-(]

And pooor iceland deserved far more votes than it got....

next time we should just let out real hungry turkey on skates, and hope hungary or turkey would give us 12 points.

seriously though, could some one tell me in which way Dustin was worse that Bilan? I'd say it's not even a 'show contest'. It's more like 'love our neighbour' contest.

P.S. I've never known that there are more Latvians in Ireland that Poles.

The jury remains out on that notion [;-)], but for me it was the fact the song had me dancing and the fact I was in Iceland last month [;-)]

The only way this crap Eurovision thing can be fixed is to remove the public voting and go back to committee's!

The public don't vote right, therefore they shouldn't [:-P] Eurovision dictatorship now!

At the party I was at, we were all so high spirited during the contest and had a ball. There was great music this year. But during/after the voting, we were all on a downer. It was so depressingly predictable.

It's only getting worse.

In fairness the "best" song won it. There was some strange voting all right. That said my holidays for the next year has been established, all those who voted for Iceland. They did sooooooooo much better than all the professionals put them at. Grats Iceland your welcome over here any time :D

Anne Doyle's neck looks like a fanny

Ukraine was robbed! Is that how you spell Ukraine?...

Greece was a shit Myleen Class, how did they get so many points?!

Russia was ok. Unlike Sweden, Iceland and Ukraine (That still doesn't look right), who were amaaazing.

I agree, Eurovision is dead. Bloc voting is a disgrace. Andora giving SPAIN 12 points showed it all really.

Beer is amazing :) :) :)

ok look, i'll admit i'm a huge dima fan, but no, i dont think he should have had the top spot, compared to who else was in the competition this yea.

that being said, he also has been in it since 2005--Russia doesn't care about the Eurovision, but this performer (who isn't without talent) does. So great, he won it, we can all go to Moscow, and then Dima can get on with his career.

i'll also say, my top three picks were Greece, Ukraine, and Greece, and em...top 3...not bad for the american.

also, +saidin+ is a drunken whore. [:-P][@};-]

If you send in crap, you get the responding votes ie none.
Russia has sent in some strong entries in the past 5 years, look at the results and the songs, they match. Ukraine has had a strong history due to quality.

Block voting has always existed, from day one. This happened before there was an eastern Europe. However look at the people who voted 12 points, it wasn't always Russias neighbours who gave it to them.

Ok folks, Irish entries, and we have sent nothing but utter tripe in the last 10 years, Donna and Joe (waterford knackers anyone), were our low point. Are people really surprised that we didn't qualify. RTE need to be sacked. I mean a bloody muppet representing our country. And people expected us to qualify, out of sympathy the bookies gave back the costs of the bets for Ireland to qualify to the finals. Doesn't that say all.

Well done to Iceland, you did well guys xxx Your welcome to our neck of the woods anytime. You guys did fantastic and had fun doing so XXX

ahm...Dervish anyone?

Donna an Joe weren't bad...it was a very Eurovision-y song, addictive, dancey...ireland DID end up in the top ten that year.

Yeah I think it's funny how Ireland and the UK complain about block voting, when Ireland always gives the UK something like 8 points regardless of the song [:-)]. And isn't it strange that we give 10 points to the country from where we have the most immigrants [:-)]. Both the UK and Irish songs were fairly ho-hum this year.

I must say I was disappointed in the top five, Russia should NOT have won, I don't care how good looking people say he is! But I was very very happy to see Norway in the top 5

We also gave 12 points to the Pirates -_-
However Israel gave 12 points to Russia, who didn't get the most 12 points at all that was Armenia.

I think Poland should have done better. I kinda liked that song!

Dima had a top 5 finishing song, but maybe not a winner.

Still, hot dude!

Its funny that the one year most countries try to take eurovision serious, we send a turkey...

Of course the other side of this is the fact that the majority of ''new'' countries send thier best singers and best songs. They still take the contest seriously and it shows. Everyone in this part of the world just take the piss out of it . The last few UK (and Irish entries) have being appaling so I think it's a bit cheeky to complain afterwards about how the we are 'wrong done by'. If the songs were good they'd get the votes. When did the UK last send a top class song? I think it was probably Jessica Garlick as for Ireland I cant even remember a recent good entry

Compare this years Russian and Ukraine entries to the UK one, they were class.........says it all really. Andys song is a like a Lionel Richie reject and we had Dustin. In all fairness. Spare me

Oh and why the f**k is everyone going one about Iceland it's horrendous

Ukraine was the best song
