Gay Prom Mania is Here

Belong To is urging all LGBT adults to get their ticket now for Ireland’s first Gay Prom. The night is set to raise the roof of the Mansion House, the Prom’s spectacular venue on October 11th in Dublin. Get your ticket now to avoid disappointment at www.belongto.org.

Dress to impress, come as a group or bring the person you love or fancy, enjoy the fine food and wine and prepare yourself for some really fabulous entertainment. Ms Panti and Brendan Courtney will act as hosts for the night, following dinner a cabaret show with performances from Panti, Shirley Temple Bar, Ladyface and London’s own Johnny Woo will wet your appetite for the nights band, Cuckoo Savante followed by the school disco with DJs Addy, Davina and Karen. There’ll even be a slow set for all the lucky lovers out there.

If you didn’t enjoy your own debs, if you want to have a chance at being Prom King or Queen, or if you just think the idea of a gay prom is where its at, then look no further, its here and wants you there.

What a lovely idea [:-D] Alas Dublin events are a bit awkward for most of us here in Cork though..

While I think Belong2 are a great organisation, and they do have some great acts and people who I'm sure cost a pretty penny...62 is very very steep. Especially for a youth organisation. I know I certainly can't afford it.

yea, but it's similar to what you'd spend on a real Debs, no?

I think a somewhat steep price is a good idea, because it might deter people who shouldn't be there...a friend of a friend is a bit..mature, and likes younger guys, and hes just going so he can be sleezy and aggressive and hit on young guys. completely inappropriate. ive urged my friend to dissuade him from going.

What exactly is too old for this event???? I know belong2 is a gay youth group but its for over 18's and it does say all are welcome???

it's my own feelings about it, not any thing official.

imho, anyone is welcome, to go and enjoy themselves. but if its a guy in his late 30's/40's going to perv on 18 year olds, then i have a problem with that. personally. i had nothing to do with the gay prom and wish them all the luck in the world.

lol it's all about your intention. if you're going with a few friends to have a laugh, def go (if you can afford it). i'm 24 and was on the fence, but can't afford 62 just to get in the door!

if you're going to try and pick up 17 and 18 year olds...i have a major problem with that. it's hard enough being that age, AND coming/being out, but if you've got some bear aggressively pursuing you, some young people just don't know well enough to say 'no, thank you, i'm not interested in your sex swing'. it's part of growing pains, but like, i think that, as the slightly less-young generation, we need to keep it in our pants and behave somewhat responsibly.

(and yes, i realise i was a bit of a whooooooore a couple years ago when i was here the first time, but it was with people my own age, which i think is preferable. i made my mistakes, but i wasn't coerced into doing anything i might regret...well...except scoring spiller [:-P])

i feel like i should also say that age isn't really an issue when it comes to a relationship, i have no problem if there's an age gap, if someone is self-aware enough to know thats what they want. i just have a problem with a mature person coercing someone just out of the closet and is still adapting to life as an out gay man into something they might not be ready for. it's selfish, and perpetuates the worst stereotypes of being a gay man.

rant over [:'']
