Is it just me or is anyone else surprised at the severe shortage of gay couples on the scene? whats going on? are we afraid of commitment?

No, its just that most gay couples prefer to stay off scene. You actually see more of them when you involved in the gay community as adverse the scene...

oh right... well i guess it makes sense then... i mean, if ur with someone and ur happy, why would u insistantly persist to join the catle mart scoring ground that disguises itself as the cork scene!

Depends what you call the scene jc, but yeah, it really does make you look around yourself in a pub and ask urself - who'd come here but for the fact that they're gay and single.

Yeah, I even noticed since myself and the Texan started "dating" that I'm bored on the scene, I mean, I love a pint in Loafers, but I haven't been to the club in yonks.

When you're not trying to score, and when you can't drink cos of antibiotics(which i'm on constantly lately cos my immune system is bolloxed) then the club is extremely boring.

All the scoring and alcohol in the world couldn't make The Other Place a decent club venue IMO!
Clubbing, both on/off scene can be fun even if you're in a relationship. There are several gay and lesbain couples who are regulars in Loafers.

It's not necessicarily related to sexuality or the scene imho, more that when you are in a relationship, you do more together, or nothing together. When you're single you do things as a group. Also when single you can think about what you want, as opossed to having to think about someone else. Snugs 'n cugs at home, or sitting in a pub. Hmmm. -)

My partner & I are together over 2 years & used to go on the scence nearly every weekend. Now, however, we only go every 3 or 4 weeks. We are one of the few long term young couples on the scene & it is sad to see that the scene is devoid of couples like ourselves. The main reason couples - ourselves included - is the bitchiness & jealousness that abounds on the scene. "split em up!!" seems to be the agenda. However, we are above that shit & we go to the club because we can express our love for each other while relaxing - just like all other couples who like to go clubbing & be together. Perhaps if the club & clintelle in the club were more couple friendly, then there would be more couples remaining on the scene.

I agree with u TopLad. Fair play... 2 years is a long time... ur obviously meant to be and care about each other a lot to have lasted that long a time. I agree that the scene is just so full of jealous guys... this 'lets break em up' attitude seems to be the norm and its so wrong... I dont get why thishas to be the case! i mean if I see a couple... i dont know them.. why come between them? let them at it!

But someone here pointed out earlier... if ur in a relationship... would u choose A)a nite out in taboo and the club with bitchy ppl all around u and guys trying to hit on both of u, causing jealousy and consequent fights... or B)a night in with a film, alochol, deep conversation and cuddles?.... hmmm, i wonder!

Its nice to see its possible for a gay relationship to last! hasnt been my experience up till now...

Well, we dont let them come between us neither do we fight over them. Sad people & we rise above it. What else can you do. We are meant to be together. It was so lovely being together again on St.Valentines Day. We didnt go out, we are living together so we cooked a meal & drank too much!! We often do this - so the cuddles on the sofa are enjoyed also. Its just nice every so often to go dancing (I love d dancing!! I'm an Ibiza/Ayia Napa Lad!)(minus the drugs)& its nice to be able to dance with my partner. Holding him or dancing together in Havana Browns.....NOT! Unless we wanted head surgery. JC - I hope you find someone special soon. You seen like an honest bloke & you are not afraid to speak your mind!

I like to go to Loafers regularly for a pint (or ten!) and I'd go on my own with friends, or with my boyfriend. I've been in a relationship for over a year and I must say I don't go out on the so-called "scene" any more or less than I did when I was single. However, I never went on the "scene" to pull really, so maybe it's different for some people. IF that's the only reason they were going to pubs like Taboo and Loafers, then once they've pulled as such, they probably don't see the point in going there anymore.

Im still single, still old , i broke up with my boyfirend after 3 months, we basically clashed on things, no money, no job, so now im
free and looking for Mr Right but hes definitely not in cork, and anytime I go out and see someone nice, they are usually shifting the face off some other guy! Immediately a phrase goes around in my brain ((((((((((((you fucking bastard))))))))))))

It's a given shibuya - the cute one's are always taken - or straight! It's like the anti-straight woman law of nature!
Welcome to GC btw!

God I know. All the guys I fall for are straight [(]. Mostly because it's people I work with etc. that I fall for. Looks are important, but personality is everything.

sure I had to trek all the ways to Tralee to bag my chick all of 2.5 years ago...AND I'm only a wee babbie at 24! Hooray for young couples, I say! We hardly ever get the chance to go out on the scene, we miss it.

i dunno... i think giving up on finding that guy in cork is a bit dramatic... i think its all about taking chances. if u fancy someone then u should just go for it. ok if they're with someone it makes things awkward but u could try becoming friends? about falling for straights? shur take em out and get em pist and we'll see how straight the really are!

Myself and Proud Mary 1980 are probably Cork's most prolific gay couple...

LeBaron

Prolific ?

As in "Producing offspring or fruit in great abundance"

Maybe " Most popular " would be better !
