Oh, now that isn't helpful!
Loafers is lovely since it was done up, and there might be an ice Queen on at the Velvet Lounge that weekend, too. Keep checking this space. mark...

seriously i know dublin is good though... the front lounge is lovely... not sure about clubbing though... ive been to the george once but was having huge issues with my ex at the time and we ended up having a huge fight there... there was like this exhibition put on... ***roll up roll up... front seats available for a major breakup here*** so obviously i didnt enjoy that night! maybe next time if i go i might have a better time!
but belfast definately has the best club in ireland for gays that ive been to! it was mad! so going back there sometime

I've been to Manchester a few times and enjoyed it. Prefered it to London. Plenty of pubs and clubs on the scene. A very good variety.
I found that they are better mid-week, cause at the weekends, the whole gay village seems to be over-run with hen parties.
Some nice gay restaurants there too by the way.
From Cork airport both British Airways and BMIBaby do direct services. Aer Lingus, Ryanair, BA and LuxAir fly from Dublin.

What Bo said![)] At weekends you do get the hen do but it's not as bad as it was. There are plenty of pubs to suit every taste, quite a few do drink promos. Iirc Essential - the 'super-club'- is only open Thurs-Sun. Quite a few gay pubs away from the main drag such as centro and The Britons Protection. Nearly every pub in Chorlton is lesbian by default. Have a look on

for an indepth view of what goes on where.

Be careful with the guides - both books and online - the pubs and clubs tend to rebrand and refurbish quite a lot, esp on Canal Street.
You will recognise some of the pubs such as Via Fossa and the New Union from Queer As Folk.
And it's simply the done thing to get your photograph taken beside the "Canal Street" road sign with your legs covering the 'C'.
