Where are they now? The cast of BUFFY

Sarah Michelle Gellar—since Buffy finished our leading actress seems to have made dud after dud movies. The only reasonable one she starred in was ‘The Grudge’. ‘The Return’ and ‘Possession’ all flopped as did ‘Southland Tales’ and ‘Suburban Girl’. Her new TV series ‘The Wonderful Maladys’ seems to have stopped production half way through leaving people uncertain to the series fate.
It seems bad choices are condemning Sarah Michelle to the bargain bin section. On the positive side she has just had a baby with her hubby. Awe.

Alison Hannigan—Alison on the other hand made wise choices with her career. Unlike Sarah she never really went for leading lady status. Her only movie since Buffy ‘Date Movie’ was a minor slapstick hit. Her guest role on ‘Veronica Mar’s’ pairing her against ex Buffy star Charisma Carpenter was a delight for fans of Buffy and her next TV show ‘How I met your mother’ became an instant smash. She can still be currently seen in this show and has like Sarah also had a baby. Awe again.

Nicholas Brendon—With starring roles in terrible D movies like ‘Unholy’, ‘Blood on the Highway’ and ‘Fire Serpent’, yes folks I kid you not, Nicolas career panned. Suffering from depression and alcoholism he stayed out of the limelight while struggling to recover, returning to TV for an 6 episode stint on ‘Criminal Minds’ twice the size he had been. Not learning from his mistakes, or taking what he could get, he starred in another dodgy horror called ‘The Portal’. On the flip side he recently headlined a Lifetime TV movie called ‘My Neighbours Secret’ from which he has garnered good reviews. It remains to be seen if our Xander can remain on the up and up.

Anthony Head—Having left the series before it finished this British actor returned home and hasn’t stopped working since. Starring in Little Britain, Free Agents, Merlin, The Invisibles, Sold, Dr Who and in movies such as the brilliant ‘Repo the genetic opera’, ‘Persuasion’, ‘Sparkle’ and ‘Imagine me and you’ this man has gathered an impressive CV that just keeps on building.

Emma Caulfield-despite having an impressive start, ‘Darkness Falls’ and having numerous roles aside from Buffy behind her, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ Emma’s career did not take off after playing the brilliant Anya. Critically her movie ‘Hollow’ did very well but only got limited cinema time. The actress turned to writing and has some new indie movies coming out ‘Timer’, ‘Shadow Play’ and a new series entitled ‘Gigantic’. It seems she is comfortable taking a back seat despite been probably the best actress on Buffy.

Michelle Trachtenberg—okay she will always be the annoying sister of Buffy but in the world of film and TV this now grown up sister is doing the most of all the cast. ‘Black Christmas’, ’17 Again’, ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Mercy’, ‘Ice Princess’, the gay orientated movie ‘Mysterious Skin’, soon to be seen in ‘Young Americans’ and ‘A couple of Dicks’ opposite Bruce Willis, Sean William Scott, Jason Lee and Adam Brody. This young actress has the world at her feet.

SEMI REGULARS
Amber Benson—played Willows first girlfriend Tara. Since then Amber hasn’t been idle but all her movies also fall into pathetic attempts at horror. Some include, wait for it, ‘The Killing Jar’, ‘One eye’d monster’, ‘Taboo,’. To her credit she starred in the gay movie, ‘Latter Days’ and an episode of ‘Supernatural’ as a Vampire. Her latest flick ‘Another Harvest Moon’ well the title says it all.

Seth Green—played Willows boyfriend Oz. He has had an extensive career including, ‘Austin Powers’, ‘Without a paddle’ and has done voices for ‘Robot Chicken’, ‘American Dad’, ‘family guy’, ‘Star Wars-the clone wars’. He is currently filming ‘The Brazilian Job’ which is the follow up to the ‘Italian Job’.

Kristine Sutherland—played Buffy’s mother Joyce. Since leaving Buffy has been very quiet only appearing as a guest star in two series, ‘Comanche Moon’ and ‘New Amsterdam’.

Marc Blucas—played commando Riley Finn. Since his departure he has starred in ‘They’, ‘I capture the castle’, ‘First Daughter’, ‘The Jane Austen Book Club’, ‘See Kate run,’. He is currently filming, ‘Knight and Day’ opposite Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Oliver Martinez and Maggie Grace.

Danny Strong—played Jonathan. Since Buffy he landed a regular spot on ‘The Gilmore Girls’ as Paris boyfriend. He starred opposite Amanda Bynes in ‘Sydney White’ and can be currently seen in ‘Robbin in da hood’.

Amazing post! Thanks a million for the updates. You're so right about Michelle Trachtenburg; I couldn't accept her as Celeste in Six Feet Under; she will always be the most annoying plot device Joss Whedon ever came up with as far as I'm concerned!

She is also in the sequal to the Boondock Saints, All Saints Day. From what I gather she is playing a similar role to Willem Dafoe

I actually watch 'Fire Serpent'. It was about as good as you would expect.

SMG is a great comedic/dramatic actress. She could have done so well post-Buffy but I fear it's too late now. Sadness.
