Dorian Gray-Ben Barnes

I am so excited about this. I adore the book. The original movie with Hurd Hatfield and Angela Lansbury is one of my all time favs.

This looks like a really good version. I love Ben Barnes he is a baby Bloom

Thanks to Existo Solvo for letting me know the trailer was online

It's one of my favourite novels; I remember reading it under the science benches in chemistry class in secondary school!

I never knew Angela Lansbury starred in a film adaptation of it though! I love the Lansbury; I saw her in Blythe Spirit on Broadway this summer and was blown away by her stage presence and energy at the age of 85. I think I'll be doing a Torrent search this afternoon!

I waited for over an our at the stage door to meet her but I think she snuck out a different exit. But at 85 and playing 5 shows a week I think she was allowed that! And we were seated in the second row.

saw the trailer last night in the cinema,it doesnt look half bad i have to say.methinks ben barnes could be the next orlando bloom.oliver parker, the director has a good track record with literary adaps as well having directed 2 other (i think) wilde adaps with THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST and AN IDEAL HUSBAND and also the kenneth branagh/laurence fishburne version of OTHELLO.

I am really excited and a bit nervous too about it. I love Oscar Wilde and 'Dorian Gray' is one of my fav books. I loooooooove the original movie with Hurd Hatfield and Angela Lansbury so much though I have to try and 'put it out of my mind' when I go see this. Ben Barnes is stunning. Swoooon

This is so cool! I love Wilde and I love this particular story. They better stay true to the story and the screenplay better be accurate OR ELSE.
I'm still tetchy about screenplays ever since I went to the new Harry Potter movie, I just couldn't stand to see a shoddy recantation of a story!

I finally got to see it last night

9 o clock on the 09.09.09

Of course it is totally changed from the novel, of course it is totally changed from the original movie but it is 2010 and they have to please the mass's. You know what they didnt ruin it! Yes it is changed but I still felt it was true to the original. I loved it! It is very eery and atmospheric. I am biased when it comes to Ben Barnes but I really thought he was perfectly cast. He is so beautiful and played Dorian wonderfully. Colin Firth made a great Henry and it was nice to see Ben Chaplin and Fiona Shaw.

I want to go again..... cant wait for the DVD! Did I mention how beautiful Ben Barnes is?
Louis is very happy, thumbs up. I havent enjoyed a movie in the cinema this much since 'The Young Victoria'

Did I mention already that I loved this film? I'm still thinking of it. It was everything I loved in a movie. Please do bare in my mind that I have unusual taste so it may not be everyones cup of tea. This is my best movie of 2009 by far

Where did you go to see it Louis? I think it’s on in Blackpool so may go on Monday for the "couple" offer Is it as atmospheric as the trailer leads you to believe?

Mahon Point last night.

I thought it was atmospheric and errie and beautiful.

I'm VERY hard to please with movies, I'm a big Oscar Wilde fan, it is one of my favourite books, the original movie is one of my all time favs so this had a lot to live up to. I'm delighted with it. I really am. BUT Purists beware - it is changed a lot, Dorian sins which are usually just mentioned and implied are shown in this version, still think it is really well done though. Did I tell you I love Ben Barnes?

It is basically a 2010 sexied up version - think 'Oscar Wilde remixed by The Tudors'
