Brochure Parade Events Community Events Public Relations & Media Team Fundraising & Sponsorship Commercial Events Merchandise Sales On a side note, thank you to everyone for the biggest turnout for a Pride event outside Dublin anywhere in the country with nearly 3,000 people! WELL DONE, remember it's YOUR Pride too!
Already halfway through my costume for this years event I also got a video cam-corder at last This year is going to be THE BEST year yet! I know it is! I'm not bullshitting!
So...as a member of 2009 who will be stepping down...will anyone on GayCork.com be taking up any of the roles or volunteer positions needed? Personally I know alot of GCer's work here but I had a full time job last year and had PLENTY of time to give 1-3hrs a week spare.
Funnily enough, after all the shit in my life lately, and as much as I used to fight tooth and nail against the idea of pride..I had promised himself that id give it a try this year...and I will...Im not dressing in fucking drag though.
I'd actually really love to but LC beckons... Maybe next year if I'm in cork... Or maybe during summer if ye still need volunteers?
meetings are normally worked around the group/sub area you wana help in. so it can be easily arranged for you to help in whatever you're interested in without being present for all the meetings.
id love to take part in cork pride this year ... i'll prob go to the meeting and see can i help out in any way
Hey all, nominations are still coming in so if you want to nominate someone in the community for a position in any of the main committee or indeed as a volunteer for whatever role they would enjoy most then email in before 12th (tomorrow) to: info@corkpride.com See you all next Tuesday!!-(PANCAKE TUESDAY!)
you'd be surprised what you can live through can't recommend getting involved enough, last year's Pride had great momentum, but needs new blood (ideas) if its going to continue to get bigger and better. best of luck x
(on my behalf...nothing to do with Pride) An abismal turnout! Surprised so many people out there take part on the day (myself included) and not more than a hand full showed for the open meeting! Next date is 2nd March (This Tuesday) at 6pm in The Other Place. OPEN MEETING We can only do so much with a core base of 5-7 people who actually do something and make the week long event a success. We've lost a few people due to extradition and people who have given there all and now want to enjoy it, but where's the generation of young activists who have protested at every bloody equality march, talk, and lecture!! Where are the people who should be the generation of making people remember the past to not repeat it in the future, Pride is about freedom and diversity! Has that died now we all want to get married! Now step away from the computer and get up off your ass and do something for your community and get nothing back only the satisfaction of knowing "I HELPED!!"
if i'm not working will try to make it, althou my committee skills only go as far as making tea... thats helping right??
