Yep, I actually saw it live from the ballinlough road whilst on my morning walk @ 7am. The flames were unreal, and smoke was all over the place.
It was a fire in the the R&H Hall mill and grain store. A friend of mine lives on Patrick's Quay & sent me a photo from his window this morning, it looked like a huge fire. Don't think anyone was hurt luckily. I drove past it on the other side of the Lee this evening but it was hard to see any damage in the dark,
Just as well they want to build apartments there. There were a few 'coincidences' like this in Dublin when I lived there
Yes it was one of the larger obstacles facing the docklands re-development, perhaps cheaper to arrange arson for the building than to demolish it. The plans for the docklands area look really good and ambitious. http://www.corkcity.ie/docklands
I though this also, looks like I'm not the only suspicious one around! According to the news this morning, it was started deliberately as well.
Lets shove all the large-scale, dirty, obtrusive docks to the lower harbour area where everything is always dumped... May as well finish the place off as a beautiful natural amenity area.
I like watching ships coming into the city, it reminds me that i'm not at work. and some other fool is. keep the docks working i say.
Here's some of my pics of the channel - I love it there too Pic size - help admin I tried to resize but they're soooo huge
