http://www.corkcommunityartlink.com/ I just heard about this a few days ago and it sounds really fun. I applied to volunteer there yesterday and it actually seems like great craic. The dragon takes a team of 14 people to hold it (I was holding it yesterday and it is really hard!) The parade starts at 7 at the Shandon craft centre and then heads down Shandon St. There will be about 200 hundred people performing in it. Will anyone be going to see it? Also, they are still looking for volunteers if anyone is interested, either in the run up to the event or on the day.
Saw it last year and loved it! Gonna try to volunteer this year Thanks for the reminder, Stupid Cupid!
Does anyone know people who might be willing to volunteer for an hour or two for the parade? We are still short a lot of stewards and trying to find more. And people are still needed to help in the days running up to it as well. If anyone knows might people who might be willing to volunteer, please let me know.
I wasn't able to reply to this closer the date due to be netless, but the parade went down really well. Everyone had a ball despite running around like headless chickens organising everything. This is the only video clip I can find at the moment, but I know an official one will be released in a few weeks.
the walkin skeletons were really cool! also really liked those...floating ghost things--couldnt see the people wearing black at first, very well done!
I'm so sorry to have missed it .It looked amazing ! They're going to have to give it way more publicity as I only heard bits about it and did'nt know how good it was. It would be good too to have it running with the Jazz Festival , imagine the buzz visitors to the city would get from it . Well done to you for taking part ,must have been a lot of work involved.
One of the walking giant skeletons (the one that stuck its hands out and scared someone) was actually my housemate. The floating ghost things were lanterns. The cool thing about it is that everything was made of sellotape, but still looks really cool. We were all running around like crazy on the day. I had to coordinate all the face painting (I'm to blame for the crappy skulls) and the drumming section and that kept me up the walls, so I pity the overall coordinators.
