I do not know if this idea is perhaps planned more formally for the decade celebrations.(personally I think a vote of congratulations passed by Cork City Council would be a start, but anyway on to my customary: now then) now then. I have been posting on here for approx 5 years and spectating for some time longer. I am going to post a link to my most memorable/favorite threads, with a brief description of why attached. I am inviting others to do the same. here goes. 1. Birth of Baby Fionn - It made me realize that behind every username is a person with emotions and above all else humanity. If memory serves me correctly, I think I cried on reading some posts, my tears where probably more to do with repression and life in the closet, but tears were present none the less. 2 Outrage at Cardinal Bertone - Generally I try to steer clear of religion, and perhaps posting this is breaking some new accepted custom. For me it was the anger, and disappointment shown by posters that moved me. When websites move people they become more than just a website, they become a social tool, and what is more, I fully believe this tool to be in the best of hands. GC.com more than just a website. 3 Funny Pictures - Makes me smile, or at least confused, most days. If George W Bush had one use, it was the wealth of funny pic jokes he induced.
i think it was some political thread that was quite serious and heated and then we started posting pictures of the canditates and discussing their looks and Bannasidhe posted ....I think... that she couldn't turn her back two seconds before we turned a thread into an eye candy thread I miss Bannasidhe...hope she is well[@};-]
I can't believe the eye candy thread hasn't been mentioned yet I also like the rave thread. Always good to read some positive vibes.
Man recruiting for Christmas dating Hard to believe this sweet talking charmer was ever single! I wonder if he found someone in the end.....
The most memorable one for me was one where a newbie posted (about 5/6 years ago) and I sent him a PM and we started chatting and eventually met up. Now he and his partner and myself and Handsome are firm friends.
When Carraigrock was talking about this handsome guy in sweatpants at a David Norris meeting - and he joined the forum as a result of it. Hi Falcon!
There was more drama back in the early days; very stressful for admin back in the day but I think we can look back and smile at them now!
The threads that a Dad posted looking for advice about his 15 year old son who just came out. It was moving to hear it from a parents perspective but also moving to read how accepting that the poster was about his son being gay. Full thread here
Wasn't there a lovely sister who started posting about her closeted gay brother as well? Those threads are always lovely. I also quite like the Embarrassing Moments thread, I find it very reassuring the hear the hilarious things everyone else is getting up to. I'm not alone!
