    The picture says it all!

Am surprised that SF agreed to this, but on the other hand am delighted that they did.

    What do you think?

Typical SF hypocrisy. What was all their noise about last year when the Queen visited the Republic?

McGuinness shakes Queen's hand: it's a cheap publicity stunt designed to blind voters.
McGuinness doesn't shake her hand: he's a backward drudgeon living in the past.
Whether this handshake occurred or not, McGuinness and SF were gonna get backlash just for being who they are.

For what it's worth I think it's a nice gesture from both of them. Anything that signals progress, no matter how small, is surely to be welcomed.

Its great and she looks genuinely pleased about it too!

This was much harder for the Queen than it was for McGuinness after what the IRA did to her cousin Lord Mountbatten. Fairplay to McGuinness though for going through with it. I'd imagine there are quiet a few unhappy Shinners after it. It's a another good step in the right direction.

Prince Phillip looks like he's thought of an improper joke.

It actually makes me sick. He has the audacity to stand in the position he does after what he has done and the lives he has destroyed. I love the Queen but Martin McG should be grovelling on his knees not shaking her hand.

It's all positive. Steps in the right direction compared to 100 yrs ago. Or more so 30. It's like us gays celebrating civil unions. We're not there yet. But getting there.
